Amazing little place. Searched for poutine place nearby and it was suggested by Google. I don't regret it. Asked for a large smoked meat poutine. The portion size was HUGE! Being a large poutine guy I thought I would be able to finish it. But decided to stop torturing myself and gave up. The poutine tasted really good. Although I don't like the mustard on it. But if you like mustard it's a sure thing to try. The staffs were nice and accommodating. Definitely a place to visit again.
I just stopped at the Big Cheese Poutinerie to have supper and Natalie was so nice. The food there is always so good. She offered to charge my phone for me while I eat. Also gave me a second poutine that was made by mistake so I told her I'd give it to someone who might need it. Right away I met a person named Robert from Montreal. He shared some wisdom and told me about a bagel shop in heritage that still uses a 200 year old recipe. He was very great full and all thanks to Natalie!Thank you Natalie for your awesome personality and hospitality. I appreciate you charging my phone for me while I enjoyed my dinner. The pedal bike horse just wasn’t comparable. Lasted all the way home.
best poutine in town definitely will go back
A friend and I went into the Big Cheese yesterday around 2:30 PM. My friend got there a little before me and had already ordered, so I walked up to the counter to order my own food. Even though the woman who was working front of house came up front several times, she didn’t say anything or acknowledge me for probably 5 minutes. I don’t want to sound like a “world revolves around me” type customer, but the least you could do is let me know you’ll be with me in a minute. The woman (multi-coloured hair) serving me was extremely cold and did not have a friendly demeanour at all. When she brought my friend and my food out, she simply left it on the table without saying anything. Again, not the end of the world, but just felt quite cold. Then, my friend went up to ask for more napkins as he was only given two, and the woman said “what do you need them for? I already gave you some,” in a rude tone. When a customer asks for more napkins, you give them napkins, you don’t question them. Especially at a place where you are eating food that’s doused in gravy. The poutine was good but the experience with the front of house staff completely turned me off of wanting to go again.
I love coming here because the staff always is so welcoming and very inviting. Always fresh and hot and more curds than you would get anywhere else. Hands down the best poutine selection I've ever seen! I always come right in instead of ordering online because it's so tasy!
I get a large Montreal Smoked Meat poutine on occasion, and it's amazing every time. Tons of quality smoked meat, a healthy heaping of real Dijon mustard, pieces of zesty dill pickle, all on top of quality poutine. Often lasts me 3-4 meals, and tastes even better reheated in the oven. For 13$, that's a hell of deal. Highly recommended.
Seriously the BEST poutine ever!!! you have to eat here, its the best in Calgary! staff are amazing and the atmosphere is just stellar !! thanks for filling my belly on a cold winters day :D
The best perogie poutine ever! I constantly crave their poutines. Also the pigasus is my fav comfort food. Nothing compares to these guys! The staff is great and welcoming. I support local!
While I never thought I’d be reviewing a poutine, this is hands down the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Pulled pork poutine is to die for. Kudos to you guys this was so good, if it wasn’t so filling I could eat five.
I like this spot, I get lunch from here probably a couple times a week. Prices are reasonable, the staff are all super nice, I actually have no idea why people are complaining of rudeness as I have only had positive experiences. Some of the poutine varieties (cheeseburger) are not for me, others are sleeper hits that I think you can’t really go wrong with (traditional, loaded veggie, hogzilla). The food is fine, the staff are among the best I have dealt with, very personable and respectful. Shout out to my man Jeremy, Natalie is also a super cool individual.
