Excellent food and service

It's been so long since I've been back. But it's still as good as I remember it in 2016? Rice is cooked perfectly, fish is super fresh, all of the staff super attentive and friendly.

My favourite sushi in Calgary! Always so fresh so flavourful! And the staff is always so nice and welcoming! Beautiful location and Decor. Amazing for a fun night or date night

Sadly as others have mentioned the quality of the food has slid along with service. It took an hour to get our sushi tonight. It was decently busy inside but I noticed that there were a lot of take out orders. They must focus on the take out orders first as that is where the money is. I found a fish bone and scales in my sushi today. The rolls were also just not put together very well.

Awful! The quality of the sushi was terrible! The ingredients were old and dry. The BC roll tasted stale and the salmon skin was so tough and hard. The cuts of the rolls was like they had a been cut with a butter knife. Extremely disappointed with the food and honestly would never order again. Here I'd a picture of some of the ones that didn't fall apart. Kind of look like rolled up sushi balls..

I have dined at Sushi Bar Zipang over the years, and my most recent visit was a little disappointing compared to past visits. The service was relatively abrupt and crass. The quality, although good, seems to have diminished and no longer stands up to the price tag. I found the sushi rolls fell apart easily, and were not presented well. The sashimi was definitely well portioned; however, the yellowtail fish tasted a little fishy for my liking, and the color seemed a little dull and grey compared to other hamachi sashimi I've had.I will be back in the future, hopefully the quality will improve.

The quality of this restaurant has slid. The sushi is average but I would not recommend the Omakase to anyone. Our appetizers came out quickly but then we had to WAIT AN HOUR AND HALF for a regular sashimi platter to come out. The sashimi platter was nothing special, consisting of just salmon, surf clam, tuna, and some octopus. A server came by to apologize after we had waited an hour but no one else checked in on us afterwards. Terribly slow service and the food served as part of the Omakase was nothing special. For the price you pay, we were expecting at least average service but that was not the case. There was no special Omakase experience and it felt like we just ordered sushi off the menu. NOT WORTH IT FOR $100/PERSON.

I've been going to Zipang on and off for 15 years. It used to be my favorite place in Calgary. I haven't been in a few years because few years ago, on my birthday, there was a large fish scale in my omakase sushi set. Roku closed down earlier this year and I thought to give Zipang another try. Unfortunately, tonight I bit into a piece of large fish bone in my hamachi sushi. I've never ever had bones in my sushi even in kaiten sushi or hyakuen sushi shops before. This is unacceptable. The chef apologized and deducted the hamachi off my bill but that really isn't the point. I'm very disappointed with this meal and also feel the general fish quality has dropped compared to the last time I visited (before the pandenmic). My tea cup sat empy for a very long time before I had to wave them down to get it filled. For a premium japanese restaurant, tonight's experience was unacceptable and I will not be returning to this place again, which pains me because Calgary's selection of good sushi restaurants is already very rare.

18 pieces - 75$ chef's choice with unfresh wasabi. Seriously? Boss, have you been to Ari sushi or Nupo? Ask them the price and compare it.

Always excellent service and sushi
