Went during happy hour! Cocktails were delicious, the Bao buns had great variety and price, and the server was very personable and knowledgeable. Drinks and appyâs for 2 under $70 so of decent value!
Absolutely phenomenal small plates, we shared the brussel sprouts, chicken lollipops, truffle dumplings, and the pork bao. Drinks were delicious as well. We were there for 5:30 on a Sunday night, quiet, but they played great music, and we really enjoyed our time. Canât wait to go back.

What a spectacular little find this place was. We were heading to Calgary on vacation and I was looking to make reservations for dinner one evening. When looking on Open Table I saw that Sensei Bar featured Bao Buns...they had me at Bao Buns. The restaurant is small and tucked away a little off the beaten path of with the Beltline area. But it is well worth the effort to find it and taste the amazing treats on the menu. The menu is Asian inspired, with an emphasis (like many Calgary restaurants) on vegetables. We started with edamame hummus, which came with delicious bread for dipping, followed by fresh and tasty tomatoes and burrata, and of course the Bao Buns which initially caught my eye. While there were many more menu items I would have loved to try, we' hit our limit...until we ordered the "Sensei Bar: for dessert. It was Matcha ice cream covered in dark chocolate with some magic dust sprinkled on it (toffee flavored), and was the perfect way to cap off the night. Sensei also has an amazing list of cocktails, liquors, and Sake to choose from. We sat outside in the front courtyard and it was like a beautiful little island retreat. Of course, it was a perfect night weather wise, which is not always the case. This is an amazing little place, and if you are looking for creative Asian inspired cuisine.
Been here before. Pretty cool menu; the food is great. That said, I do wish some of the items were available for couples, as opposed to groups only, in terms of their portions. Plus, their tables are pretty small given the plates they end up bringing out. Quite the squeeze. Overall, Iâd still recommend.

Unassuming from the outside, menu has a mix of Asian and Asian fusion choices. We sampled appies, small plates, and large (short ribs). As well as some of their classic cocktails with a twist. The food was fantastic and the short ribs the best I have ever had! The cocktails are fun and I WILL be back.
Wonderful food and beautiful presentation. Staff are awesome. Highly recommend it!
