We have tried this place in several occasions and were pleased by the quality and originality of the food. The classical Vietnamese dishes are well reinvented. It is also a nice spot for chicken wings. We reconnected with their cuisine at the Taste of Calgary Festival. The sesame donuts with spicy chicken or pork are the perfect examples to showcase their new take on a classic street food bite.

This is not your typical Vietnamese spot - it is definitely more upscale (which also means it’s a bit pricier) but you get what you pay for! Most of the food here is super delicious and there are a number of interesting fusion style dishes as well. The pho broth here is one of the best I’ve have in the city - super rich and flavourful and the large size is huge!! We also got the chili lime wings which were super tasty and fried to perfection. My husband ordered the Tom Yum Seafood linguine which I wasn’t super impressed by however the portion size was generous and the fried soft shell crab on top was a nice touch. The service was ok - not the friendliest or most attentive staff but they get the job done.Overall this is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for some creative Vietnamese inspired food!

Was recommended by one of my Chefs, coming in with high expectations and wow, everything was spot on. My new favourite restaurant in Calgary…

My wife and I stopped at Pure Modern Kitchen last week and were blown away by both the food and service. The Fried Rice dishes were phenomenal, and the dessert was fantastic. Our server made us feel special as it was my wife's birthday. She went out of her way to make the dinner great. This restaurant is a MUST TRY.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in the city. The Pot O Pho and the seafood fried rice are both excellent. Great customer service. A little outside the main “downtown” core but well worth the walk.

Full disclosure, I've only been for the wings night and haven't had the pleasure yet to try the regular menu. That being said the couple of times we've come for their wing nights have been fantastic! By far the tastiest flavors for wings I've had in a while, though I am sad that there aren't more flavours to try. The best in my opinion are the Nuoc Cham, the 5 spice and the char sui.I am looking forward to trying the regular menu soon!

Was recommended to try this hidden gem during my business trip. Chef/owner creates tasty dishes using unique flavors that meld very well together. Portions were also generous and menu was simple to navigate and fairly priced. Our server Aileen was pleasant and very attentive. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu next time!

This is our family favourite place for catering when we have family gatherings, birthday parties, etc. The food is so delicious and the portion is huge. Chef Lam is very talented and we have never been disappointed here. Love everything about this place!Thank you for always making yummy food for all of our events!

8/10 wings. Good flavour and crispy, but definitely not the best. Definitely overhyped.6/10 matcha smoothie. Had to order a drink in order to eat wings. $7 for a matcha smoothie that I probably would have paid $1 for. It wasn’t terrible. Just wasn’t good. Tasted like a keto matcha smoothie with 0 sugar and 1/8 tsp matcha.0/10 customer policies. They have some pretty ridiculous and appalling customer policies. Another thing to top this, is if you’re going to have some awful policies, you have to be transparent and let the customers know ahead of them so they’re not surprised. It likely will make the difference between a customer returning vs. Never coming back again.1) We did not partake in the all you can eat, so we paid for each set of wings. At the end of the night we asked for takeout boxes (only one per person as we had very little remainder that we didn’t plan on wasting). The server stated 1) due to their policy, they cannot give us takeout containers for wings and 2) they don’t do this because the wings are already priced at a “great deal.” I found this bizarre. I would understand this if we were doing all you can eat. But we weren’t. So why would we not be able to take them home after? We genuinely could not finish 3-5 wings after and didn’t want to waste food. Also at $4.50 for 10 wings, it’s honestly not even that great of a deal. I’d say it’s a pretty decent/standard deal for wing night. The server had to call someone else over to restate the same policy… it seems there was a communication barrier and that they did not understand what we were trying to explain. Not being able to take out your wings (both AYCE and non-AYCE) should be disclosed to customers BEFORE they sit down and well before they order.2) They charged us an automatic gratuity for a larger table (though this is normal and understandable, they failed to disclose this before we ordered). The automatic tip was 18% (which is something I would be comfortable paying had the service actually been good. Honestly, I would have tipped 10% and considered tipping less (just enough to cover the rest of the house).3) They stated it was - again, their policy - to not be able to split the bill at the end of the night. They, once again, did NOT tell us this at the beginning. One person ended up having to pay for the initial cost of all of our dinners including an automatic 18% tip that none of us thought they deserved. I’ve worked in the service industry before as a server for multiple restaurants. I’ve always split the bill for the customers. It’s the proper thing to do, even if you are busy. Mind you, it was not a busy night at all - there might have been two other parties sitting down at the time we paid. They couldn’t even split our bills? Seriously? It really is not that hard as a server. Also, it comes down to making the customer happy. If the customer wants a to pay separately, that’s not an unreasonable ask.5/10 service. They delivered our meals and drinks in a timely manner, but the rating immediately dropped to 5 when they became quite argumentative and adamant about charging us for takeout containers (this, I find, is absolutely ridiculous. Your customers pay for their food, and they don’t want to waste the rest, but you’re asking them to pay to take it home?)The food was good - not great, good. The customer policies should be thrown out the window. The way the staff assessed and responded to our complaints was rude and awful. I’ve honestly been to more dim sum places and Chinese restaurants with better service and nicer attitudes than this place. So if people say it’s an ethnic thing, it really isn’t. I use Chinese because they are sometimes infamous for their subpar service. I would not come back, and I would highly recommend looking for another place to go if decent service is important to you.

I haven't dined in since covid, but have ordered frequently for pickup. Their food is excellent everytime. Full of flavors. Their pho broth can't be beat, my favorite in Calgary. Rich in flavor and depth. Their chicken noodle soup, or crispy chicken noodle soup is also comforting on a cold day. I have ordered large trays of seafood fried rice, ribs, banh canh (off menu), bun Bo hue(off menu), and Bo kho(off menu), wings (salt and pepper and chili lime nuoc cham are my favorite). All perfect everytime and all my guests always ask where I got the food catered from. Nothing but good compliments on the tasty food. Highly recommend.
