I used to love this place as a kid! It was so retro and vintage. It’s gotten really run down though and their attempts to renovate are more lipstick on a pig than actually fixing anything. The ice cream is still the same which I like. I always know what I’ll find. I hope they manage to bring new life into it at some point, I’d hate to see it deteriorate to the point where they’d have to shut it down.
Once was great. New owners aren't at the same level. Lots of choices in calgary for ice cream now. This shop was number 1 for along time. Now sits very low on the list. I'm a calgarian been going here since it opened in the 80's. Village is what this place once was.
Huge flavour selection. Popular but not too busy this time of year. Same location for decades. Creamy ice cream!
This is the smallest birthday cake I have ever seen for the same price as a DQ cake. Save your money and go elsewhere.. Wish I would have read these reviews before ordering.
Might be cliche but.. this is my favorite ice cream shop, hands down. They really pack the ice cream in!
Incredible selection and great value.
Stopped in for a cone with my daughter this afternoon, they didn’t have my fav flavour in stock so ordered the heavenly hash, nothing heavenly about it! Once outside I tasted the ice cream and felt it was off, my daughter took a bite and said it didn’t taste right, like it had been freezer burnt, not smooth like ice cream should taste. When I returned the cone the Asian lady working behind the counter mumbled something clearly upset that I was bringing this back for something else. Well at $4.50 a cone it should taste good right! In any case she threw the cone with some force into the garbage and proceeded to get me a replacement cone but only a child size, I guess because I had a few licks she didn’t feel it in her interest to make me happy with a full scoop that I payed for rather she made me feel like I inconvenienced her and was made to feel like I was ripping her off. Total lack of care when it comes to customer satisfaction and will never be back. This shop used to be one of the best in the city before changing ownership! Plenty of other stands to chose from in the city!
Me and my pregnant wife just went there today (3:15pm Oct 10,2021) to buy ice cream.She put only 1 flavour in cup,my wife asked if she can have 2 flavours,the rude Asian lady “manager” with big eyes said,I ASKED YOU ALREADY IF HOW MANY FLAVOURS YOU WANT AWHILE AGO”.My wife did not hear it when she said she asked awhile ago,because if she did hear it she could have told the rude Asian lady with big eyes what flavours she wanted.The rude Asian lady with big eyes started to show her attitude,my wife said “it’s ok never mind the other flavour then” but the rude Asian lady with big eyes scooped out some of the 1st flavour still showing some attitude and ask my wife what’s the 2nd flavour,she’s showing attitude the whole time.My wife asked for 2 spoons after she paid,the rude Asian lady with big eye turn her back and she said “it’s inside” while walking away.We went to the car and I let my wife relaxed 1st but I went back to store after 1min.and asked for a manager from the guy who’s working there too.The rude Asian lady with big eyes interrupted and she said “I AM THE MANAGER”.She told me “IF YOU DONT LIKE THE WAY I SERVED THEN GET OUT!! (While pointing at the door).She said if I have a complain to call the store.I went out and call the store,ofcourse that rude Asian lady with big eyes answered the phone inside the store.In the end I wasn’t able to get the owners # or someone who has higher position than her because she hang up the phone because I kept asking for the owners #.I hope the owner can read my review.Me and my whole family always buy ice cream here but,starting today MY ENTIRE FAMILY WILL NEVER EVER BUY HERE EVERYTIME WE SEE THIS RUDE ASIAN LADY WITH BIG EYES “MANAGER”.I hope the owner will handle this lady,otherwise the store will lose customers..just like me and my entire family.I don’t have her name but she’s Asian to me and with big eyes.maybe 5-5’2” tall.Address of store is 2048 42 Ave. SW
Strawberry Flavor best one ever, it made me remember many memories before 30 years when I was young I had eat same flavor in my hometown, what a beautiful strawberry.5/5
I don't understand why your employees sounded very cranky. I spent $30 there and we were very polite yet they still have a gloomy face today, I don't think even a tip would change it. However, thanks for the delicious ice cream.
