Ordered tempura udon and this is what I got. Noodles and soup. No tempura. No veggies. I could have made this at home for $1. Saddest meal I’ve ever had.

This used to be one of our favorite Japanese joints, today’s visit was absolutely terrible. The food quality has obviously deteriorated, heavily sauced, overly salty. the broth tasted like Chinese fast food. One very inexperienced waitress for the whole restaurant, our ordered was missed twice. I highly suspect the restaurant has changed owner, no more authentic japanese place, more of a Chinese fast food joint now. definitely will not return.

What a lovely place we discovered today. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. I will definitely be telling my friends!

Ordered the Yaki Udon. Noodles were slimy, broccoli wasn’t cooked. Overall, didn’t taste very good.Oh, and the Negi Mashi set looked like they just dumped the rest of the chopped green onions they had left on top of the dish. Why so many green onions??? I did notice they closed after my order went out, maybe it was some good intentioned hope they wouldn’t go to waste? Who knows, either way, it was also kind of gross as a result.

The quality used to be better, but I feel like it has gone down. Not bad overall, I wouldn’t mind coming here again.

I think the pandemic might’ve taken a toll on them. We have been here a couple of times recently - really wanted to give them a chance but both experiences were similar unfortunately. Menyatai used to be our go-to ramen shop in Calgary but now it’s just slightly above average (2.5 stars if there was one). The flavor of tonkotsu is much more blend now and the cha-shu don as well. Probably the biggest disappointment is the takoyaki, which used to be one of our favourites around town but now it’s actually below average.Understandably, the service seems to be more tailored to takeout/delivery now and we did sit around awkwardly for 5 minutes before being able to order while the server tends to the incoming orders - and we were the only table dining-in at the time. The server was friendly and courteous as expected and the music (usually j-pop / k-pop) adds good vibe for dining. If you prefer the broth/flavor to be on the lighter side, I think you’ll still enjoy dining at Menyatai.

Best beef yakiudon i've ever had (portion is a bit little to me)Should hire more servers for dinner time, we wait for almost 10mins to get the order but the food came out quickly. Will be back for another try

Fantastic Ramen place. Service is very pleasant, have not yet been able to try the chili goma ramen as it is always sold out

I used to enjoy the noodle here. I don't know if someone else bought this place, the noodle now is terrible and they even charge you for chili powder, that's the most rediculous thing I ever heard.
