My boyfriend and I came here for a yakitori lunch. We ordered a few different skewers and a karaage. The food wasn't anything spectacular for the price. The drinks were pretty good though. We found some strange black bits all over the napkins and plates and even in the water. Perhaps it's a the soot from the grill? The atmosphere is nice and the lay out of the restaurant is nice and the service was good but we docked two points, one for the dirty items and one for the bland food. Perhaps the beef is where it was at but we didn't get any.

The food was basic nothing special for the price they charge. The layout upstairs was beautiful and the waiter was super friendly and Pleasant to chat with. You have to be really patient the food takes forever.Again the waiter was great ???.

They grills are fantastic! I mean we live grilled meat and Japanese grills are unique and very good! They staffs are great and friendly, love the atmosphere too. Definitely come back again when we in town!

Really enjoyable experience, food was excellent, fresh, and great portions. The beef and lamb chops on the hot stone were so tender and delicious paired with their own special sauces! Also the lobster Miso was excellent as was the made in house ice cream!

Innovative menu as it incorporates both traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls along with grilled foods. Excellent grilled vegetable items such as okra, zucchini, broccolini, in addition to the beef ribs, beef finger, etc. Parking difficult (be prepared to circle around the block a few times before finding a spot) and beef ribs a bit fatty. Would still definitely repeat and recommend.

Got delivery. Overpriced, tiny portions, and quite bland. From best to worst:Signature Truffle Prawn Roll and Lobster roll - Could not tell which was which because there was neither truffle taste nor lobster taste, but both were okay. One of them was slightly above average...until you consider that they're priced $15 and $18 respectively. For the taste, and especially for the tiny portion size (each piece is barely an inch wide), neither is worth it.Spicy Salmon Oshi Sushi - Was just really bland. Thin pieces of salmon, and barely any filling.Sweet Ginger Shrimp - Again, very bland. The shrimp itself was actually not bad in quality, but basically unseasoned, and the sauce that came with it was below average. The photos looked great, but the actual dish was just disappointing.Kawa (Char grilled chicken skin) - This was deep fried, /not/ char grilled! If I wanted deep fried chicken skin I would've bought a bag of chicharrones for $1.99, and it would've tasted better, too. Absolutely zero charcoal taste, zero texture--just crunchy cardboard that was $10.Will not be back and not recommended.

So apparently the restaurant actually used to be arthouse, so that explains why the layout is super dope! It’s got two floors and rooftop patio, and if I’m not mistaken, they do private parties on the second floor! I really liked the exposed kitchen as well.I ordered a number of dishes and literally nothing disappointed me! Some of my favourites were the Signature Truffle Prawn Tempura Roll, Charcoal Grilled Lamb Chops, the TRUFFLE OIL that came with the Truffle Shrimp Tempura, P-Toro (pork belly), Negi Maki (bacon wrapped green onion), Negima (chicken & green onion), and Kawa (chicken skin)! I wasn’t in the mood for sushi that day, but I was extremely impressed with the quality of ingredients used in the Tempura Roll, especially the salmon.I must give points for their plating and pairing! I noticed that every dish has that extra little something that enhances the flavour profile and presentation. Considering this place has a lot of smaller dishes, almost everything ordered was plated beautifully. Whether it’s the truffle oil on the side or a fried garlic garnish, the attention to detail was noteworthy. My only minor complaint, is that the servers weren’t that confident, and knowledgeable in the menu. I had a couple questions regarding certain dishes and the server really couldn’t answer, nor make an effort to get the answer from other staff. The server that delivered our food and took our payment seemed rather nervous, so it did make some of the transactions a bit awkward. But they were all very nice though, and it’s possible they are a bit rusty from being closed for a while.

Ke Charcoal Grill & Sushi is a Japanese restaurant that serves many dishes. They provide sushi, skewered meat, noodle soups and more! The location of the restaurant is convenient. Located right on 14th street allows the restaurant to be accessed by many. However, parking can be difficult. There are little to no parking stalls. Meaning that customers will usually park on neighborhood streets. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. They have a bar area, a table area and an upstairs are. Each are provides a different feel. The bar area has the chefs preparing food right in front of them. The table area is close to the bar area. As it is a little further away from the chefs, it allows for a busy restaurant feel. The upstairs area is more isolated. It has a lower noise level, allowing for customers to have a more intimate and private meal. The food was great. The noodle soups had lots of flavor. The sushi was fresh and didn't taste old. The meat was well seasoned. The skewers are quite filling. Occasionally, some of the pork belly skewers were charred. So it did provide a burnt flavor. Which can make it hard to eat. The beef and chicken were not dry. Each of them were tender and juicy. The noodle soup portion was a little small. However the flavors definitely did not lack. The service was fantastic. Even if a customer is seated in the upstairs area, there is always a server up there. The food came out hot and quick. The price can be a little expensive for a night out. However, it may be reasonable depending on how much you eat.Ke Charcoal Grill & Sushi is a great place to go when you are looking for some Japanese skewers. They provide many suffering atmospheres. So there is hopefully something for everyone. Definitely will be coming back for their daily specials!

Food and service was great! If it's a cold night, request to be seated further inside the restaurant rather then by the windows and front entrance. Everytime someone came through the door..we had a cold draft.

Personally I think this is the best sushi in the city, for quality, price point & portion.Love the unique Philly and jalapeño rolls. Huge sashimi that matches their rolls.. Large open kitchen & rooftop patio.
