Visited the restaurant on Saturday afternoon during their happy hour. The cocktails in happy hour seemes promising but did not live upto the expectations. The food was priced at 7$ but the quantity was unbelievably less and too salty. We might visit again to try the regular priced menu items.
I had the salmon bowl today. It was brand new on the menu and is definitely a keeper! Delicious!
Beautiful space and Atmosphere definitely a place to visit and try. The service was wonderful as well and best location downtown calgary on Steven AvePlus the food was amazing with good tast and style I was impressed for the first time for the portion u get for the money and selection.I highly recommend
As soon as I sat down at the bar on a quiet Monday night I was greeted with the most lovely question: “will you be having a Guinness?”. As a matter of fact I will please.A great pour plus the atmosphere made for a great time and I truly appreciate the simplicity of the pub. No TVs to watch sports or other nonsense. Just you, your pint and a plate of pub fare.Cheers
Really really good food and the service amazing
Lovely service and amazing food. But by far the best part was the lovely atmosphere. Bustling space with friendly patrons and it was absolutely gorgeous! If you are on Steven Ave for the brunch it's almost a crime to not go. Only issue is its a bit pricy but that's kinda expected on Steven Ave though.
We were very excited to spend St. Paddys day here. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. We spent $45 for "VIP" tickets that gave us absolutely nothing other than a couple hats. There was no line to jump in front of, there was no preferred seating, there were no drink specials. As a matter of fact, we saw ONE VIP booth and one of the owners told us that the booth was for someone else. After spending a world record of $11 a Guinness the only positive was the band they hired. This place needs to be rethought by its owners. Side note... seeing the owner carrying money boxes through the floor is poor form. They should spend a bit more time shaking hands and kissing babies rather than counting money.
Great place. Feels like an authentic UK pub with its wood panelling and atmosphere. I've been here for lunch, after work drinks and for diner. I've never been disappointed with the food or service. Worth checking out if you're downtown and you want some food and drinks.
As a Scot who had never visited Canada never mind Calgary, found myself in Calgary in September having to spend 14 days out of the UK (Scotland) before being allowed to finally visit my Family including two grandchildren in Minnesota. (US Covid Regulations) James Joyce became my local for the next 16 days. From the moment I stepped into this family pub I was welcomed like a regular. Wonderful place with super friendly bar staff, great grub and Guinness and nice local clientele. Obviously a lot quieter than it would normally be given Covid restrictions, but in some ways that added to the homely atmosphere. Love this pub and if I am ever lucky enough to return to Calgary it will be my first port of call. Slainte Mhath! Eddie Morrison
