I was intrigued by this place when it popped up on my search… our Airbnb is 5 minutes away so we tried it. It was good. The garlic naan was yummy and BIG! Hubby got the “Slum Dog” and it was really good! The samosa were waaaay salty for some reason - my guess is it was a mistake. It killed whatever good flavor was beneath all the salt ? Only left out one star for this reason.
My wife and I don't normally eat Indian, often it is a little intimidating to order it, so we often pass on to other food options. Until we stopped by Indie Counterculture.WOW.Food was amazing, and we are SO glad we stopped in. The restaurant and decor is amazing, and the staff was so kind. But the food, we took out, and it was THE BOMB.We are 100% coming back, highly recommended. The names of the dishes are kind of awesome :)We ordered:The SpudSlumdogBo PeepButter Clucker PoutineGump (THIS WAS MY FAVOURITE)Don't miss this place
Came here for lunch to introduce someone to Indian food and was not disappointed. The service was fantastic with the server being very knowledgeable about the menu. The food itself was nothing if not amazing; for the prices they are, you get very healthy portions that boast an incredible flavour. Being able to feed 2 people for around $30 was just great and we were able to order a good amount of stuff. I have no negatives to bring about about my experience here and the fact that they display the entire menu on the exterior of the restaurant is something I’ve hardly seen done but something that enhances the experience all the more. The interior was clean and elegant additionally. New favourite place to go.
Highly recommend this family-owned restaurant! The food is delicious (the butter chicken dish and garlic naan is unreal), the service is friendly and personal, the music/decor/atmosphere is fun and the location is prime. We'll be coming back and will be recommending this place to others!!
I've ordered food from here twice and it's been fantastic both times! Excellent flavour, large portions and the right amount of spice. The garlic naan is incredible.
Delicious Indian food full of flavor. Really friendly staff, and the place in general has a very nice vibe. Perfect for a great meal, while chilling and enjoying music from the eighties and nineties.
I have to be honest I was skeptical at first, but wow am I ever impressed! The food was absolutely delicious!! The staff was so friendly and helpful! Really glad we stopped and ate here!
By far the worst Indian food in Calgary. Had the Chicken Kathi roll and the thali. The butter chicken was too acidic and sweet. A taste combo that would make you gag. The roll had no favour at all with boiled chicken in the name of butter chicken. There are many Indian restaurants and furthermore with the chat street food style food. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. This food is a disgrace to Indian food. It’s probably 1% influenced by Indian food but it’s a shame to call this food from India!
I had walked past this little place in Kensington a few times - waiting, I suppose to go and enjoy the food with someone who also likes this type of food. My partner and I finally got our opportunity to sit and have some lunch here and I was not disappointed. From the chair tea through both meals that we shared - the ruff patch salad with tikka chicken and the poutine with the butter chicken - we loved it! The little extra touches (firm tomatoes, crisp chickpeas) are well executed. The gluten free options were safe as well - bonus for someone who is wheat free! The people were also friendly, clean and masked. The seating is minimal at present as take out is the main business here but in the summer they have a big patio. Looking forward to coming back.
Visited for dine in for the first time. Late lunch. Window seat. The food was amazing. Perfectly spiced and the presentation was great. portion size is generous - very generous - and the prices are better than reasonable. We will be back for sure.
