We were a party of 6 on June 28. We were visiting Calgary and this was recommended. No one was in the restaurant when we arrived. Server was not attentive and our experience didn't get better. Except for taking our order and bringing the food the server never returned to see how our meal was. We had the green curry. The presentation was good but the soup was not even warm let alone hot. The noodles in one bowl weren't even cooked!!! We decided not to complain as there was nothing that could make the experience better. I'm always weary of sending food back so this isn't something I do. We did notice that a couple of other tables (2 of 5 tables were seated close enough for us to see the order brought out) had streaming hot soup when their bowls arrived. This only added to the thought that the server should have known our order was not up to standard. I will not return and would not recommend this place. I'm sure there are tasty ramen places in Calgary but this isn't one. Don't let the rating fool you.
Walked in on Saturday to have a lunch. Ordered the roasted tomato seafood ramen, chicken Karaage and beer on tap. The ramen portion was enough for two people if you're looking for a light lunch. It was a slow day so I enjoyed the quietness. Service was very fast as well!
Went for the Miso Ramen bowl just to test out Ikemen and was very satisfied. The broth was flavorful and the pork was great as well. The service was friendly and the patio was a very nice place to relax. Will be going back to try different Ramen bowls ?
This is a nice addition to Kensington. We started off with the fried oyster mushrooms which were the best! We also had chicken skins, these were bland so we asked for some garlic mayo and that helped. I ordered Miso Ramen with chicken only and it was delish! My friend had the cold Ramen and it was so pretty looking with the little shrimp.Jayden, our server, was very helpful and super friendly. The atmosphere is beautiful with wooden accents. The bathroom could use some work but overall it's a wonderful little place and I recommend checking it out!
Very good serviceDelicious ramenFried chicken crispy and juicy my kids can’t wait to eat what is why I don’t have pictures ?
I really like the texture of their noodles, it’s not over cooked and really nice. The quality of their chasu was questionable though and I don’t particularly enjoy having raw kale in ramen. But overall, the ramen was decent. I’m sad that I don’t see the unagi poutine on the menu anymore.I really liked the karage chicken, would come back again.
I will definitely recommend anyone to try the ramen soups & the Brussels sprouts, they absolutely delicious. I had the Tom Yum Ramen & I enjoyed every bit of this soup. The service was very pleasant all the time we were there. I also find the restaurant very clean, simple &the same goes for their washroom. I would like to go back many more times. So try & experience what they have to offer for food.
I would say Ikemem ramen is a creative and fusion ramen place. Not bad! Their ramen is a bit different than the traditional Japanese ramen.
Cozy, quiet place with communal seating, great ramen and good dumplings.Went there after the gym and had some ramen. Only giving 4 stars because the food took forever with only 3 tables in the building (probably only 1 cook in the back). Other than that, would recommend for date night, or solo outing.
Dined in at this restaurant upon the highly regarded recommendation of a friend. A chilly evening always can use some ramen! As we walked in, all staff was friendly and let us pick a table (it was not busy around 545pm on a Friday). They scanned our vaccination cards. The tables were clean and spaced out. Water was automatically brought to the table. There were big tables (for groups) and smaller tables available. We asked our server what item was the most popular and recommended the miso ramen. Ordered the miso ramen along with one chicken karaage. The karaage was okay. It was dry on the outside with some type of white powder (flakes), the chicken itself was moist but the outside flavouring was not my favourite. The house-made garlic mayo that came with it was flavorful and overall made the dish better. The miso ramen was okay. The broth was not super flavorful and personally was lacking in salt as well. The noodles were thin and curly and cooked perfectly. The chicken and pork in the ramen were also cooked well and had more flavour than the broth. The bowls they came in were beautiful and aesthetically pleasing!Servers were nice, quick, and checked in on us.The seats along the walls are uncomfortable as they are just a plank of wood with no cushioning. Little design or artwork on walls gave a bland look, making the atmosphere lacklustre.Price with tip came to under $50 for two miso ramens and one chicken appetizer.Overall – I would try this restaurant again. They have good reviews, do a different take on traditional ramen, are local, and are easily accessible/locatable in Kensington. The food this first time was not super amazing in my opinion, but they have lots of different options of ramen to choose from! The staff was great, and the price was reasonable.
