There is something to be said about hole in the wall locations. Food is really good and authentic feeling. I had the cod and fries and it was delish.
Great value .Fish and chips hit the spot, halibut was great and the chips were delicious. Enjoyed the seafood chowder as well. Will definitely stop here again!
a long-term and valiable member of the community. thanks for the tasty fish and friendly service.
The best and yes better than the rest ?
Sorry but it used to be really good but then they started charging so much for halibut I stopped going there really too bad I used to go once a week.
We ordered the 8-piece Family Halibut. While I expected pieces to come mostly the same size. Instead, pieces were wildly differing. We had a piece that was a triangle with a 2 inch tail?! Hard to share with a big crew when there is no uniformity in weight or size. Cost $67.95
A 3.5-4 rating. This spot is more of a hit the spot and good value fish and chips. If you're looking for something unique, fancy, very traditional and the ultimate fish and chips...this would not be the spot for you. Really enjoyed the fish (six types avail: cod, haddock, halibut, sole, basa and salmon). Fyi - cod is thicker , firmer and less fishy tasting than haddock which is more fragile, thinner and fishy tasting. The fries here are ..ok. not the greatest but it is not your McCain fries type of ordeal either. Maybe described as very thick hard potato-ey and not mushy potato-ey. Two piece fish and chips is around $14 (not includ halibut). The owner here is friendly and quick to order. I would go for just fish next time and perhaps skip on the chips.
Takeout was efficient. Fish was okay, but kinda greasy. Chips were boring, probably because they weren't really hot when we ate.
I was disappointed with my visit. The halibut and chips I had was mediocre. The fish was okay but there were more batter than actual fish meat. The fries tasted like they were fried twice or they were fried with very old oil.
Have always wanted to try this place as keep passing by on Edmonton Trail. Not a fancy joint but the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Had halibut and chips, great crispy and firm fillet of fish. Will definitely try to stop by more often
