This place is awesome and the food is fantastic, I haven't personally gone to the restaurant recently but I do order on often on Skip. The Peking duck is just lovely. The chow main is the go to dish when you just want bit to eat. As well the the portions are just fantastic.I usually order Peking duck, Seafood Chow Mein, deep fried chicken wings, sole fish with black bean sauce and crab/lobster with cream sauce. The crispy chicken is just delicious as well.Give this place a try, you won't regret it.
My family always order a take out or take away food in this place. Foods are reasonably priced and totally worth every penny. Our fave are the house special chow mein, special fried rice, mixed seafood w/ tofu and veggies, salt & pepper chix/porkchop/spare ribs, and a slice of lechon. Its close proximity to our house, gas station, and convenience store/grocery is a big plus. The owners Wen and family are very hospitable and accommodating, making sure our foods are served well and are provided promptly. We highly recommend this place and we encourage everyone to support their food business :) Thanks!
Went here today (sunday nov14) around 2pm to have late lunch. Ordered the duck with rice meal special valued at $16 but server said that wasn’t available but offered me half duck for $19 which totally doesn’t make any sense. ( They have this rice+duck meal for $16 advertised just before you go in the restaurant ). We also ordered wonton w spring roll. Anyway, we were craving for duck and so we still ordered the duck even if they were selling it for $19 with the expectation that it would be hot and fresh. The duck came first and the moment it landed on the table we tried it immediately and it was served cold!!! We then told the guy who served it (he is chinese and i’m assuming he is the owner) and he said he is going to change it. We were expecting that he was going to give us a freshly cooked duck thats hot only to find out a few minutes later that he just had it reheated. It was the same duck and to our dismay, the duck was served barely even warm. At this point, we lost our appetite. The lady server went to us and we told her again about the duck. She just told the guy at the counter about it in chinese but didn’t really do anything for us. They continued talking in chinese but didn’t offer to change the duck or anything to make it right. We barely touched our food. Left the table and proceeded to the counter to pay, they had the audacity to bill us in full with no apologies whatsoever. So I warn you people DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS RESTAURANT. You have been forewarned! TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. Do not give these people your business! WON’T BE BACK FOR SURE!
If I could I wouldn't give this so called restaurant even half star. Went there for a meal... and this was possibly worst place I've picked. Ordered roasted duck with rice, and wonton soup. Duck landed on the table after few minutes.. literally cold and rubbery. Rice didn't even arrived yet.. I told one of the staff that meal isn't hot and it's chewy. Your man took it and said.. "I will get you a better half". Couple of minutes later the same duck was served to us just slightly reheated.. Still wasn't HOT, meat very bland and rubbery! Worst duck I've ever had!!! I had to ask for rice when they served wonton soup.. small bowl of just warm rice was given to us. Wonton soup.. lots of wontons in it very cheaply made. Broth wasn't even that hot and far away from perfection. Terribly awful food that shouldn't be served to customers! Owners should be ashamed! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!
I will recommend gong kee bbq noodle house for asian restaurant here in calgary because the serving is big and the taste is really good, you most try to eat here.
I have been coming here for over 20 years now and have eaten here many many times. Attention owner! You are cheating! Fake reviews have suddenly appeared on this restaurants reviews. It is so obvious to me as I am very familiar with the restaurant, family, food and dishes. It's cheating and my trust level has dropped immensely. We will not be eating here again. I'm not sure that I want to have someone cook dinner for my family that is this dishonest!
Been coming here for years. It's a family restaurant and even during the pandemic, they managed to maintain quality and quantity of the food. When we request instructions for certain items, they definitely make sure to do so. Kudos to the owners and employees of Gong Kee!
Best Chow Mein in town, roasted duck is ao good
Been doing take out food here and I noticed their decent to large servings. I always order the chow mein , pork asado, lechon and duck. The duck and chow mein are my favorites, it will not disappoint. Food is freshly cooked and their duck is flavorful, juicy, buttery and not tough to eat. The chowmein noodles is crispy and the sauce with the vegetables, shrimps and squid are delicious. They can be busy during peak times, but are timely on ordering and pick ups. I usually call ahead to order, which gives them ample time to prepare. Food is warm, and servers are friendly. I recommend to anyone who loves Chinese food. Their kitchen is open and you can observe staff wearing mask, gloves while food is prepared while you wait.Lots of parking outside while waiting or you can wait inside while observing social distancing.Location: AverageFood: 8/10Waiting time upon ordering: 10-20 mins (peak time)Ambiance and Cleanliness: 8/10Cost: 9/10Parking Accesibility: 9/10Customer/ Vendor Service: 8/10Abiding to Pandemic Health and Safety: 8/10
