OH MY GOODNESS!! What a true treasure this was for us to find! Group of 8 with reservations on Saturday evening. We couldn't decide on what to each have, so they decided for us! Beautiful family meal was tailored to our group! The dishes kept coming and coming with a variety amazed us all.Absolutely DELICIOUS, phenomenal service, perfect atmosphere. We will visit again and again. Looking forward to Blues night in April!Thank you Francas for making our monthly "friends are the family you choose," dinner Absolutely perfect. ?

Nice presentation on the caprese, 4 LARGE red tomato slices with a 1/4 slice of rubbery mozzarella and a tiny leaf of basil each. Looked great 5/5 taste 4/5.Pasta was great, Calabrese sausage pieces on a tomato sauce, penne rigate withGround cheese. Perfectly cooked 5/5Lemoncello tiramisu. Pretty good 4/5 not really to my taste.Service was great! I would certainly come back if I was ever going or coming from the airport. Slightly better than Rae's, in the same neighborhood.
Was torn Caprese salad looked spectacular (see photo) but tomatoes were red round beautiful and crunchy 4/5 Penne Calabrese was superb 5/5 perfect Al dente and cheese Lemoncello tiramisu was good, not to my taste 4/5 Excellent service!
Amazing Italian food. This restaurant is owned and run by a family, and it shows in the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff.We had a Burrata cheese appetizer, which was directly imported for them, with fresh tomatoes, prosciutto and arugula. Amazing.For mains I had the Chicken Parmesan, which was easily the best chicken parm I've ever had. Very generous portions with fresh pasta and tomato sauce that tasted like the tomatoes had been picked that morning.My wife had the gnocchi (which i sampled) and it was amazing as well.Can't recommend Franca's enough - amazing food and a cozy atmosphere with great service.
If you have never been to Franca's you are missing out on a truly 5 star restaurant in the middle of the industrial area on Edmonton Trail. We discovered this gem through a year end celebration dinner with my golf group from the Winston many years ago and it is now our favourite restaurant in Calgary. My wife and I mostly reserve for dinner but have been lately going for lunch dates as well. We have also attended a few wine tasting events hosted by Franca and Mario who invite wineries from their home area in Italy. When we first started going they catered to the lunch crowd in the area and were only open for dinner on Sat night with a set menu. They later changed Sat night to an open menu and have now added some Fri nights too. I guess it's getting too popular so yes you need a reservation. And the food, OMG, the best Italian food in Calgary! We celebrated dinner for our friends parent's 50th anniversary and her parent's father who is a very staunch Italian said it passed the test and the baccala was the best he had ever tasted. One of my favourites is the gnocchi which just melts in your mouth. When have you had pasta that melts in your mouth! This is a family run business with Franca and her kids running the front along with her sister on occasion and Mario in the kitchen perfecting these marvellous meals. Mario will come out for a short visit to make sure you have enjoyed your food and experience. They are all so friendly and caring. When Franca has time she will sit with you and share their story about the restaurant and their roots in Italy. They have decorated the restaurant with pictures from the old farm in Italy too. Very interesting story. If you are looking for some of the best Italian food in Calgary with with great friendly people, Franca's is a must!
We got two pizzas for takeout and they were incredible. Family run restaurant and you can tell the love they put into their food.Excellent staff, excellent service, excellent food. 10/10 would recommend ♥️
Lunch at Franca's was incredible! Had the lamb chops, ribeye and tiger prawns, all delicious! The bruschetta will keep me coming back! Thank you Franca and your whole family for a very memorable lunch! Will be back very soon!
