We have been customers for many years at the establishment. In the past we would order food at the counter, pay the sit in the dining to enjoy our meal. On a recent visit we did the same only food was served in take out containers. Odd we thought but we took a table in the dining room.As we we enjoying our afternoon refreshments the waiter came to our table and shouted that take out containers are not allowed in the dining room. Our fellow diners were all staring at us while the waiter continued to berate us. This was a humiliating and shaming experience especially in light of the fact that we were not informed as to 'the new rules'.
We shop here every 3 or 4 months for items from Germany that we are unable to buy elsewhere in Calgary. They have a great selection and their fresh bread and rolls are amazing. They also have a deli counter where you can try before you buy.Their Café is always busy and their food is amazing. And no visit is complete without buying some German cakes and gateaux.
Visited this place upon recommendation by my Auntie in-law. The establishment is really nicely located and quite pretty from the outside. Inside is super clean, and I REALLY enjoyed the selection of gorgeous hand made steins and cuckoo clocks! We had a bit of food too: schnitzel, Rouladen, and some Black Forest cake. The highlight was certainly the cake, the rest was just alright.I also managed to find some Dutch peppermints that I really enjoy, and remind me of my youth. What a fun nostalgic place for me to visit!
This is a very lovely busy store full of so many wonderful things! From hot food and eat in tables, to German and ethnic foods on the shelf... Steins and Cukoo clocks... housewares and a deli! So much to see and enjoy here. Plus lots of neat things to purchase. We go here every time we visit Calgary.
My husband is orginally from Sweden, with roots in Finland. Lots of selection and it changes from time to time. They carry goodies from all over the continent. Hubby's favorite section is the mustard and mine is the chocolate.
A delightful place. One could spend hours with all of the items that they sell and a great deli to have lunch in as well?
Quaint European exterior. I love the hybrid concept of a cafe, butchery/deli, gift shop, grocer in a single establishment. The staff were asking if I needed help finding anything and seemed very friendly and lovely. Definitely will revisit to try the eats.
What a great little place to dine and shop ! The food is delicious, I love the selection of treasures and very unique items to purchase. I am looking forward to my next visit, it’s truly a little slice of heaven ❤️ I could spend all day here, the prices are also reasonable and worth every penny
Went here to buy Marzipan at the request of my wife. I asked the staff if they could help me out and a lady gave me this saying it was Marzipan. It turns out it was not Marzipan (over double the almond percentage of commercial Marzipan). When I tried to return it, less then an hour later, unopened and untouched, I was told they would not take it back, and it was not up for discussion.
Fantastic selection all year round but this year's Easter treats are exceptional! Love the international food selection and wonderful service. This is truly a Calgary treasure. #yyc
