The real hidden gem of hotpot that I just found out recently. They have a lot of soup base options for you to try. Give it a try for Tom Yum as I think it is the best one so farGreat portion and worth the price (only $21++ for the large size)Free choice of sauces and there are some good on-side dishes needed to be tried ?Overall: 10/10 plus the great customer service.

Used to frequent this place a lot. The last time we came here was probably 4-5 months ago, and we came back today expecting the same quality of food as back then. Right off the bat there was an eyelash or hair of some sort on one of the tofu, and they were sold out of a menu item at 5pm right before dinner hours. Ive always ordered the sukiyaki and today it was literally diluted with hot water before being served to us! The sukiyaki soup base was so diluted and tasteless, the large portions were reduced in amount too. We used to get whole meatballs, and now they’re half. Half of the usual udon, and half of the usual cabbage/lettuce. The meat quality has drastically gotten worse too. It looks like they’ve used the cheapest cuts of meat available, no marbling at all and was rough/hard to chew and eat. Not hotpot quality meat. Not returning here anymore unfortunately. It was not worth $60 for 2 people, especially when you don’t even get enough food anymore.I understand that food prices have gone up, but I would be more understanding if the overall price increased if it meant keeping the same quality of food as before.

The food was mediocre, but the service was beyond neglectful.  It was very apparent that other tables where favord and I felt unwelcome.  The restaurant was unbearably cold, and appetizers where served to us well into our main course. The drinks we ordered when we arrived where served at the end of the meal.  I asked to order wontons...no.  I asked if my table could sit together....no.  I asked if we could order wine/beer...no.

First time trying this restaurant and also first time trying hot pot. The meal was very carefully prepared, as we were doing take out, and the soup broth was pretty good. I would have liked to have seen a larger portion of protein and definitely more sauce along with the meal considering the price, but otherwise was a good meal.

My go to hotpot spot! The prices are so good for the amount of food you get. The small is 17.99 and the portion is big.I love to tell people about this place because it is definitely a hidden gem in calgary. It usually not busy which is a plus :)Workers are friendly here as well

Centre Street Japanese Hotpot is an oriental restaurant where raw ingredients are put into a pot of boiling broth. For those unfamiliar with hotpot. Hotpot is an oriental dish where the server brings you a pot of broth. The tables are equipped with individual stoves. The servers will then bring a plate of raw ingredients. These ingredients consist of vegetables, noodles or rice, raw meat (beef / lamb). Once the pot at the table boils, individuals can begin putting in their raw ingredients. You don't have to put all ingredients at once. Otherwise, many of ingredients will become overcooked. Once the ingredient is cooked as desired. Take it out and enjoy! Paired with the food is a self serve sauce station. Where individuals can make their own dipping sauce.Centre Street Japanese Hotpot does not serve all you can eat. This restaurant serves individual portions. Portions can either be regular or large. Individuals will order their broth, choice of meat and choice of noodles / rice. Afterwards everything will be served as described previously. The broth is quite good and the ingredients are tasty. Each hotpot comes with vegetables (lettuce/enoki mushrooms/others), shrimp, meat balls and a few other items. All ingredients will go into the pot and become flavored with the broth. I definitely recommend a dipping sauce as it gives all the food more flavor. The portion is decent, but could use a little more meat. The service is quick. So you won't be waiting too long for your food. The restaurant from the outside may seem small, but the inside is more spacious. The location can make parking a little difficult. There is a small parking lot, but is usually full. The price is reasonable, it is about average for a hotpot restaurant.I highly recommend trying Centre Street Japanese Hotpot. This is a great place to try hotpot for the first time or the 100th time. As it isn't all you can eat, people new to hotpot can enjoy it without spending too much.

Hot pot is great. Individually portioned and many soup bases to choose from. However their sauce selection is limited n some are very diluted. E.g. the soy sauce is dilated to the point where you can barely taste the salt. Their appetizers are very pricy for a small amount of food. One Chinese long doughnut cost me $5.

My kids favourite place for hot pot. They don't like anywhere else but here because their broths are flavourful and its good price for individual hot pots

I'm from Ontario and wanted hot pot and this was the closest to me at the time. This was the first time trying Japanese Hot Pot and it was delish!! I ordered a small set with the Sukiyaki soup base ($16.99). It had a very balanced umami buttery sweet taste- yummy!!! The small veggie set came with a variety of veggies like nappa cabbage, a couple carrot slices, broccoli, tomatoes, and winter melon along with different types of tofu, meatballs, imitation crab meat and spam. The small set also came with a tray of meat. At first I thought there wasn't much food because I've been so use to the AYCE hot pot restaurants but it was just enough. You can serve yourself water or unsweetened black tea and make your own sauce.I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some taaty soup and just an overall good time cooking and eating.

Great value for your money
