Entering the place was like going into a Hong Kong restaurant. The milk tea was a great choice! It was enough to transport me back to our travels. Not sure why we ordered fries. It was yummy but the ham and cheese toast was good by itself. The reason we went was for the braised pork belly with fermented bean curd. It was to die for!!? Highly recommend to try this place.
I love this restaurant when I go there to eat, and have been a regular customer there since I was a teenager in the 90s. However, I will never order take out from here again. They gave me half portion for the congee for two thirds more the price ( $9.95). I can understand times are tough, but this was a surprise. I can make congee at home, but I was tired from work, and just wanted comfort food. I will not order this again. We also ordered the Rice crepe salty donuts, and expected the same amount of sauce as in the restaurant, but as you can see from the photo, the little cup is only 1/16- 1/8 full. Not enough for the whole dish - only half sparsely dipped. We will not order this for take out again either. In terms of take out/ delivery, I am thoroughly disappointed with a childhood favorite haunt.
Definitely my go to spot for Hong Kong breakfast food. Now it's not Vancouver/Hong Kong, but it's the closet thing in Calgary to getting my congee, Cantonese soy sauce pan-fried noodles and my milk tea. The prices has went up, definitely, but these are tough times and they do it to survive. They have a variety of items and they are simple which is what my family likes to have for breakfast. Just don't expect super great customer service as they are a bit more blunt but I wouldn't have it any other way. (Nostalgic reasons)Please note: Although they have several options, each daily congee & rice is set for the day. Don't expect all of the congee/rice options to be available. Example: Congee of the day is "Lean Pork & Century Egg", which means the other 2 options will NOT be availableAnyways I'll definitely go back on days I'm too lazy to cook and have a hankering for Hong Kong Food
Best casual Chinese food in the city, this is a Hong Kong style of food and the taste is exactly like when I lived in Hong Kong. The only con is it’s a bit expensive for takeout, if it was a little cheaper I would definitely order here more often. My favourite is pineapple fried rice, beef brisket hainan curry, or Shanghai fried noodles, but honestly everything on the menu is amazing. You can’t go wrong!
Came by for lunch with my coworkers. First time here and the food was absolutely amazing. I am so full. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. Highly recommend.
Jan 2022: They do not accept American Express, even their machine says yes, disappointed.Dec 2021: The food here taste good and service is friendly, however the portion is not enough for an adult if you order just one typical dish, but still has good experience here.Jul 2019: Ordered Hainan chicken rice, still have blood inside, not really recommend this dish.
Great restaurant, service is very good, the food I have tried is great. Can't say anything but good things about this restaurant, might become my go to. I do plan on trying the whole menu over time and will update as I do.
I’m a returning customer since 2012. Their food has always been great. What I would like to leave a review today is about their service with an infant! I have a 7-month-old baby and I have never felt more welcomed. They seated us, grabbed a set of settings for the baby, get her warm water, check up on us so often to see if we need anything. And they bring extra napkins, extra spoons( she’s learning to use utensils) and even scissor so we can cut up the baby food. When my baby made a mess, they weren’t irritated at all and I felt horrible so I said sorry and wanted to clean up. They told me to just enjoy our time together and she will clean after so don’t worry. I have been to many restaurants and this place is where I feel most at ease with my baby
Comfort food at it's best! Had an early New Year's Day lunch here with the family, and it was great. The Hong Kong style coffee was a good a start, the crispy Chinese donut in a rice crepe was addicting. The Seafood noodle hot plate was amazing. Great place for a casual meal.
We ordered the takeout online, wish it had more pictures, but it's a pretty straight forward platform to use.Food is a little too salty for my Taiwanese palate. Too much MSG and dishes are mostly sticky and saucy, which some might find flavorful, just not me.
