I ordered the Omakase Nigiri special tonight, the God of Wind roll and a couple of Hokkaido nigiris. Bar none, this was the best sushi I’ve ever had in Calgary and if I hadn’t had Omakase at Park Restaurant in Montreal a few years ago, it would have been the best sushi ever. The fish on every piece of nigiri melted in my mouth. I could have taken a butter knife and spread it on bread, but that would have been a crime. The garnishes on the Omakase nigiri sent each one over the top. Wow! Congratulations to the chefs at Big Catch! Keep serving next level Omakase!!!!
The staff here are always very friendly.However the food just never impresses me as it use to, sashimi is cut thin and tiny compared to what it once was. Pressed sushi and nigiri was meh, just seems like everything is more for "show," nothing to write home about.
Really good service. Excellent food. Too busy eating delicious food to take a picture. First time I ate sushi without an unpleasant taste in my mouth.
Very pretty and finely made sushi that looks like art. Made with care. Tasted fresh and on point. Portions could be more but for Calgary this sushi is up there.
We first tried this place via takeout on doordash a year ago and it was very memorable. Great presentation and even better taste, and we’ve had a ton of sushi all around the world. Tonight we decided to go in person, it’s a tiny hole in the wall place but the atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming. Would recommend booking in advance as there were less than 10 tables.The sushi is even better at dine in, and the dishes were presented so aesthetically. Because of the smaller place/crowd, the dining experience feels more intimate and the staff takes time to chat and explain dishes to you. We will be going back for sure!
What a great place for sushi! Limited seats so definitely recommend a reservation for dining in. I think the server said they only do dine in a few days a week and the rest is takeout. Very reasonable prices and I've honestly never seen such beautiful presentation in my life. Small menu but they do it right! Fresh, artfully crafted, and you order on your phone like you would online shop. Very cool! You have to check it out if you're in the area.
Have only had take out but it was all yummy. Beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. Good variety.
This small and clean Japanese place offers sushi rolls as well as Oshizushi (押し寿司). We had take-out lunch as dine-in is only available on Friday and Saturday dinner. The fish was very fresh and wasn't very pricey. We know we will come back to try out their dinner.
This sushi is delicious and meticulously crafted. The team at Big Catch apply the Aburi technique of searing the sushi, creating something new and exciting when it comes to traditional Japanese fair. The presentation, and the food was filling, and I enjoyed the shiro rice that uses a red vinegar in its composition. Looking forward to my next dish from here!
The sushi quality is fantastic, the sashimi is very clearly fresh and great quality. Really, all the ingredients are, the rice, vegetables, are all super fresh. They have extreme attention to details, and the notes are adorable.The ordering system through their website is extremely easy and functional, it's super slick.And the service was also great as well.Will absolutely be coming back! =)
